Description

The University of Waterloo has set targets for carbon reductions as part of its Environmental Sustainability Stratedy and Climate Action Plan. These include short-term targets for 2025 and 2030, with subsequent 5-year intervals to be established, all oriented to reaching carbon neutrality by 2050. As part of reaching our short-term targets, Sustainability and the Plant Operations has chosen the Columbia Ice Field building to replace its two existing gas boilers with electric boilers and ground source heat pumps, while also incorporating Solar PV onto the site.
