Seneca College’s Newnham campus is very busy in terms of daily operations. This translates to a very hectic shipping and receiving area at the Newnham campus. The current platform at the Newnham campus loading dock, is limited to a single height (not height adjustable), which results in additional work for the shipping and receiving staff to receive goods from a transport truck which does not meet this height. As a result, the time spent receiving/processing deliveries is inefficient. In addition, staff currently move a large steel plate to provide a level platform to transfer goods from a truck to the loading dock are with a pump truck. This presents a H&S risk to the College. Therefore, Seneca is looking to install a new electric/hydraulic height adjustable dock lift.
In addition to replacing the existing platform with an adjustable dock lift, Seneca is considering the following mechanical and electrical upgrades to the shipping and receiving area, should the budget permit:
- Replacing three existing garage doors complete with all necessary components to make a fully operational door system.
- Replacing existing lighting in the loading dock area.
- Replacing an existing unit heater complete with new controls and accessories.
