This RFP is an invitation to submit offers for the supply and cleaning services of floor mats at various RDC facilities. Proponents have the option to present the overall business model as either:
- Option 1: Floor Mat Purchase with a proposed Cleaning Solution; and/or
- Option 2: Floor Mat Lease with Cleaning Services
Service Provider shall offer quality mats with safety, functionality and professional image in mind. Mats shall be of commercial grade and able to withstand high traction use and durable enough to withstand salt and slush. Mats should trap dirt, dust and moisture to aid in reduction of janitorial costs. The provided mats shall be soil and bleach resistant and able to withstand frequent cleanings. Mats delivered on campus must be consistent in color and quality. If a mat becomes ragged and frayed it is expected that these mats will be replaced promptly with safety and professional image in mind.
The mats should meet or exceed the following specifications listed below:
- FF2-70 standard for flammability;
- Rubber backing with anti-skid technology,
- Composed of nylon fiber, and
- Weight of approximately 23 oz per square yard (780 grams per square meter).
Preference would be given to proponents that can offer mats that meet or exceed the specifications listed above. Should a proponent offer a type of mat with a different backing, other than the specified ‘rubber backing’, evidence should be presented to support why this type of mat would either meet or exceed the benefits of the existing specifications, inclusive of the ‘anti-skid technology’ specification.
LEED certified building requirements for the Gary W. Harris (GWH) Canada Games Centre and Alternative Energy Lab (AEL) indicate that entryway matting must be at least 10 feet (3 meters) long in the primary direction of travel. All entryway matting must be maintained on a weekly basis. In the AEL this will mean an additional short secondary mat will be required past the internal fixed entry mat (referenced in section 2.1.3.3.e Door Locations, Quantity and Size of Mats) to ensure the full 10 foot (3 meter) length of matting is provided. The required secondary mat needed for this area may be between 4 to 6 feet in length.
