UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO - NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SINGLE SOURCE CONTRACT: 19-110
The University of Waterloo (UW) intends to award a single source contract to AMCM GmbH, Starnberg, Germany, for the purchase of a customized metal additive manufacturing system (3D printer) that enables the print of pure copper with high density and zero percentage oxygen pickup.
This is an advanced Notice indicating to the supplier community that UW intends to award a contract for these goods to a pre-identified supplier. If no other supplier submits, on or before the closing date of this Notice, a statement of specifications that, at a minimum, equals or exceeds the stated requirements set out in this Notice, the competitive requirements of the University are considered to have been met. Following notification to any suppliers not successful in demonstrating that their statement of specifications meets the requirements set out in this Notice, the contract may then be awarded to the pre-identified supplier.
If other potential suppliers submit statements of specifications during the twenty five calendar day posting period, and meet the requirements set out in this Notice, UW will proceed to a Request for Proposal process, in order to award the contract.
SPECIFICATIONS:
In addition to standard features, the customized system must meet the following minimum specifications:
- Equivalent to a standard EOS M290 with the following additional, customized features:
- A 1000W, 1070nm, 80 micron spot size fiber laser system
- Air Water Chiller 5 KW
- EOS Parameter Editor
- All EOS Software and 3rd Party software
- Transformer EOS M/P USA
- EOSTATE Exposure optical thermography
- CSA approved, or, equivalent electrical compliance certification valid in Ontario, Canada
- Set up, installation, and full training at the University of Waterloo included with the package
- Packaging and freight to Waterloo, Ontario, Canada included with the package
SOLE SOURCE JUSTIFICATION:
The University of Waterloo is not aware of another customized additive manufacturing system that can print pure copper with the size required, within budget. Manufacturers of metal additive manufacturing systems who can demonstrate that they can provide the required suite of equipment, with features and capabilities mentioned above, within budget, are requested to contact us.
The budget is less than 600,000 Euro ($870,000 CAD), excluding Canadian HST.
Process:
Suppliers who consider their product offering fully compliant and available may submit a statement of specifications, in writing, to the contact person identified in this Notice on or before the closing date of this Notice.
The statement of specifications must unequivocally demonstrate how the supplier meets these advertised requirements.
