Working with the Dean of the Library, the UWCRC, and our stakeholders, the proponent will be responsible for translating the vision of a library into a functional space program. The functional space program will provide detailed definitions of rooms with square footage allocations, functional uses, capacity requirements, technical requirements and integral adjacencies. The program will be used to capture the Owners Project Requirements and inform a design brief for architectural services (Part 2).
The functional program must then be evaluated for viability within the existing library space. The development of a space allocation plan is the second required deliverable. The allocation plan should match user needs and optimize functional adjacencies. The plan should contemplate the needs of a contemporary University which includes increasingly diverse programming, interdisciplinary study, research and learning delivery methods. The recommendations in the allocation plan should assist UWinnipeg in determining the potential to adaptively reuse the Centennial Library for the functional program or identify a need to relocate the library to other real estate.
summary of data to the successful Proponent.
The Proponent will review and analyze our data summary to inform the work of functional space programming. For this proposal, they will describe their approach and methodology to a participatory and collaborative space planning process to determine zones of use and required spatial adjacencies to develop a functional space program matched to our student demographic, research requirements, staff and faculty needs. The consultation plan should illustrate the Proponent’s knowledge and experience working with diverse stakeholders in a campus environment.
