The University of Winnipeg is a medium sized liberal arts and sciences university located in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba encompassing an area of 13.5 acres. Nearly 10,000 full-time and part-time students attend the University. The campus also houses approximately 850 faculty and staff.
Our current communications rooms that service the Graham Building are: 0GM10C, 2G27, 3G10, 3G19, 4G23. These rooms are not dedicated communications rooms, but rather share their space with the building’s mechanical systems. These rooms are too small to allow an upgrade of IT equipment for Graham.
The communications rooms that are desired to be used for the new Graham cabling are: 3C30D and 0R20. These rooms are existing communications rooms that currently service buildings other than Graham, but have enough space to service the entire Graham Building. These rooms should be within distance to service the Graham Building.
Of the newer communications rooms, 3C30D will needs some re-cabling preparations to make space for the new Graham cabling: the existing Cat5E cables that terminate in the 3C30D cabinet need to be re-cabled to another existing communications room, 3C05. These alterations will allow a new network cabinet to be installed in 3C30D, to be used for Graham’s new Cat6 cables.
