Description

Saint Paul University (SPU) invites you to submit a response to this Expression of Interest (EOI) for Prequalification of General Contractors (GC).

This call to potential contractors is to register your interest in becoming a pre-qualified contractor, eligible to bid on the renovation to the SPU Student Life Centre under a CCDC 2 Stipulated Price contract. The Expression of interest invites contractors to show their capacity to deliver the required functions and duties for this renovation project.

Project Overview

Located in the heart of the nation’s capital, Saint Paul University (est. 1848) is the founding college of the University of Ottawa, with which it has been federated since 1965. SPU is a bilingual institution, which offers undergraduate and graduate social science programs.

Besides its academic programs, SPU offers a number of student and community services, including support and guidance to help students succeed; access to symposiums, conferences and workshops with distinguished specialists in current social issues facing today’s society; a student residence; and a library with an outstanding collection of documents and books on a range of specialized subjects.

SPU is known for its small class sizes, personalized service, diverse student population and international vision, solid reputation, rich history, and Catholic intellectual tradition.

SPU is growing and needs to accommodate shifting demands on its facilities. The University is now embarking in Phase 2 of its Master Plan which consists of renovating and consolidating student life and common activity space activities on the ground floor of Guigues Hall. .

Renovations include:

Network of informal meeting and study spaces, located at main circulation nodes of the Student Life Centre for use by students, staff and visitors;
Office space to accommodate student organizations to encourage active involvement in university life;
Exhibit space;
Café and kitchen;
Donor recognition wall;
Renovations to the multi-services space;
Ventilation and fire protection upgrades to first and second floor classrooms;
Installation of ventilation and fire protection of all areas being renovated;
Window replacement in those areas being renovated;
Repair to masonry at southeast corner of auditorium; and
Landscaping of the existing courtyard.

The Proponent meeting shall take place on Thursday January 26th, 2017 at 9:30am to 10:30am at Saint Paul University, 110 Hazel Street, Ottawa, ON. Proponents are asked to meet at the Guigues Building North/East Atrium Entrance. There will be a presentation in the Atrium of the architectural, mechanical, electrical and site sensitive aspects of the project. There will be a walk through the areas being renovated as part of the Student Life Centre Renovations. We will then meet back in the Atrium where Consultants will be able to answer questions relating to specific design issues.

Attendance is NOT mandatory to the pre-qualification process, however it is encouraged as there will be
no other times during this EOI when GC’s, Mechanical or Electrical Trades will have access to the building.

Three (3) bound hard copies of the proposal on 8 ½ x 11 paper together with one (1) PDF copy on CD or USB key, in a sealed envelope, indicating your firm’s name and clearly addressed to as per below:

The electronic file shall be a single pdf document that uses the same format as the original hard copy.

EOI’s will be received at the above location before 2:00pm on Thursday February 9th, 2017 as per the clock at the place of receipt. Documents received after that time will not be accepted and will be returned unopened.

EOI Responses that are e-mailed or faxed will not be accepted. The Saint Paul University is not responsible for lost or misdirected submissions. Firms are responsible to ensure that their submission has been received in its entirety by the specified deadline.
