The prime consultant will be responsible for both the design and contract administration of the New Library, as well as the site readiness tender documents to demolish the existing fire station which includes all infrastructure related construction tasks to support the New Library design and construction.
This new library will be located at 805 Main St S, Airdrie, AB T4B currently contains a decommissioned fire hall and Municipal public works storage. The project is currently being planned to be delivered utilizing a construction management at risk methodology and it shall be assumed the Prime Consultant will support up to 5 separate tender packages which may include demo & site readiness, foundation & structure, building envelope, finishes, and specialties.
The new Library is planned to be 60,000 SF with up to 25,000 SF of multi-use space with a projected budget of $54,495,000. The functional program for the library is currently being developed and is expected to be finalized in Sept 2021 and the functional program for the multi-use space is expected to be established in Dec 2021.
This facility and site are a critical element of the Municipal plan to revitalize downtown; and the focus of the design will be its functionality and adaptability to ensure future proofing opportunities for the community.
