YEC operates 7 x 1.8MWs rental diesel generators at its generating facility in Faro, Yukon Territories. The rental setup consists of 7 x 1.8MWs CAT engines equipped with day tanks, and 4 x 75,000L bulk storage tanks. This objective of this project is to install the necessary infrastructure to automate the fuel conveyance between the bulk storage tanks and the generator day tanks.
The scope of this project is to install the necessary mechanical piping, electrical and instrumentation components to automatically operate YEC's temporary diesel generator day tank fuel filling operation in Faro, Yukon Territory. The current filling operations has shown to be strenuous and unreliable. This system utilizes the four (4) rental bulk fuel storage tanks and their associated pumps (previously installed but not yet wired), a common header/manifold system, transition sumps and solenoid valves to transfer fuel to the seven (7) rental diesel generators’ day tanks.
Existing field equipment to be wired to the fuel control system Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) panel include level transmitters on each of the bulk fuel storage tanks, generator day tank level switches, and generator run status.
New equipment to be purchased and installed/wired include two (2) transition sump leak detectors, a flow totalizing transmitter, seven (7) level transmitters on each generator day tank, and eleven (11) solenoid valves. Panels to be installed include the PLC control panel, a 240VAC single phase pump motor control panel (MCC), and 3 junction boxes.
