Waypoint is currently building a new 40,000 sq.ft. two-storey building to house programming for both Waypoint and CSC Chigamik Community Health Centre. Once complete, these two organizations will share the space in an integrated approach to providing health services.
The current construction is for the shell of the building only or what the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MoHLTC) considers “base-building”. This work is being completed under a construction management contract and is intended to be complete in September 2018. The MoHLTC requires that the interior fit-up of the building be completed under a separate stipulated sum contract as this work is being funded through the MoHLTC. The same consulting team who prepared the base-building documents will be preparing the fit-up documents that will be tendered to the successful prequalified firms under this RFPQ process.
The total preliminary construction budget for this portion of the work, inclusive of all costs, is approximately $5,500,000.
As this is a healthcare facility, constructors will be required to understand CSA requirements, specifically CAN/CSA Z317.13 related to the construction of healthcare facilities
