Description

After the installation of the stair lift system, the project team discovered crack and breaking pieces of stairs on two platform stairs. After a professional inspection, it’s been discovered that all the terrazzo stairs platform was cracking or breaking apart where stairs lift HSS brackets are installed. The origin of the crack could be the poor installation of the new stairs lift HSS bracket on the terrazzo, the previous HSS brackets system installations, a combination of a train vibration and HSS bracket system and the age of the terrazzo stairs. The actual cracks and breaking terrazzo are a Health and safety issue that should be fixed to avoid breakdown during VIA Rail operations.
