Description

The purpose of this project is to enhance the F&B customer experience by utilizing technology and streamlining the operational activities for VIA services. In the first phase, VIA Rail would like to implement the new solution for our Corridor Services, Senneterre-Jonquiere and Eastern services, but the objective is to include our Western long-haul, Skeena and Northern Manitoba routes in subsequent phases.

Design and deliver F&B options for VIA customers on-board the Corridor trains in a timely and consistent manner that meet/exceed customer expectations and drive profitability and associated metrics.
Provide a pre-select meal solution at the time of ticket purchase or any time prior to departure or while on-board.
Provide a pre-order and/or pre-pay F&B solution at the time of ticket purchase or any time prior to departure or while on-board.
Provide a mobile Point-Of-Sale (POS) solution for payment with credit/debit card or other on-board payment options such as Apple Pay or similar App for F&B, and potentially other ancillary items (as upgrades, excess baggage, economy class meal overage, souvenirs, etc.).
Offer a broad rotating choice of menu options.
Increase revenues, improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs.
Leverage supplier knowledge and expertise for industry best practices and F&B service models in the transportation industry.

Option of exploring on-board reservation system for dining car experience long-haul trains.

Event Note

An initial meeting will be held in Montreal to provide the Proponents with an overview of the project by VIA, and ask general questions about the project. Proponents will then have the opportunity to tour the warehouse facilities. The second day will be held in Toronto to allow Proponents to tour those facilities also; VIA will provide train tickets to each Proponent’s representative(s) to travel between Montreal and Toronto. VIA Rail will provide transportation to and from the Pre-Proposal Conference to the Warehouse facility. Proponents are responsible for all other accommodations, travel and expenses.
