Description

Winnipeg’s Union Station is a large, Heritage, Beaux-Arts-style railway terminal constructed in 1908 and is located at 123 Main Street in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba. Located behind the main station, the 214m long by 43,4m wide Train Shed is a separate exterior structure built atop a partial steel framed bridge that was built in 1911 and is also a Heritage-designated building. The Train Shed has two levels: the Annex (basement) houses the Passenger Concourse and VIA Rail’s Offices; the Track Shed Roof houses the Winnipeg Train Museum and Passenger Platforms. As part of this project, VIA plans to proceed with the following scope:

Annex concrete slab and structural repairs;
Annex’s CN Space strip-down to base building;
New demising wall between CN and VIA space; and
Passenger Platforms 3 and 4 replacement (Train Shed section only).

Due to Covid-19, MANDATORY site visit may be split in smaller groups in order to respect the guidelines identified by the respective provincial and federal authorities. The number of attendees at the site is limited to one (1) per Tenderer
While on the Railway property, you will be required to wear a mask, safety hat, safety glasses, reflective apparel (safety vest) and safety boots in accordance with the Railway’s regulations as stated in “Safety Guidelines for Contractors.” The potential Tenderers must be present for the Safety Briefing prior to entering the VIA Right-of-Way. Everyone must complete the Health & Safety Questionnaire 2 hours prior to the site visit and present it to the ViaRail Representative.

1. Vendors are required to return the Mandatory Site Visit Form by March 22nd, 2021
2. Vendors are required to complete the Intent to Bid on MERX no later than April 5th, 2021
3. Upon closing of this bid, The ITT must be returned in its entirety, initialed on pages where indicated. The pricing sheet must be returned in the Excel and PDF formats. Please ensure you have attached all MANDATORY documents or information listed in Document 3 - Mandatory Requirements of the ITT.
