Description

EPA-42 and GPA30 locomotives have a history of slippery rail condition during autumn.
During this season, dew, frost and the residue left by leaves crushed against the track by passing trains cause a decrease in friction between the train’s wheels and the rail. To ensure a safe service, operation department are asked to remain vigilant to the possibility of encountering this condition and to adapt their train handling as required.
Old sanding systems were removed due to several reasons such as high level of maintenance required for a short period of the year (autumn). Consequently this requisition is calling for a newer state-of-the-art anti slip product applicator that would be used when the locomotive Wheel Slip Protection Systems is not efficient enough to eliminate these extreme season conditions.

Montreal Maintenance Center (MMC), 201 Avenue Ash, Montréal.
This meeting will allow attendees the opportunity to inspect and gain an appreciation of the Scope of Work. Prospective tenderers acknowledge that the locomotives will not be stripped for detailed examination. VIA will not be removing any covers or components from any of the locomotives for this meeting.
Those wishing to attend (limited to 3 persons per Tenderer) must pre-register by returning this Acknowledgement Form.
It is expected that attendees at the pre-tender meeting will be the ones who will be actively involved in the pricing and tender preparation so as to gain and convey first hand information with respect to the unique issues surrounding the task at hand and the project deliverables and allow for these in the tender.

The Tenderer is required to submit two proposals. One without pricing and one including pricing. Both proposals must be sealed in separate envelops but can be mailed together. Electronic versions on a USB key must also accompany the proposals.
