Description:
The University is looking for a Successful Proponent to provide services on pick-up and removal of radiation wastes from the University’s radiation waste facilities and transport them to a Canadian disposal facility that has obtained a license issued by the CNSC permitting the treatment of such waste at the site.

Environmental Protection Services currently collects radioactive waste materials generated by the more than 180 permit holders who work under the Consolidated Radioisotope License of the University. This coverage includes several locations in the City of Toronto including the main St. George Campus in downtown Toronto, the University of Toronto at Scarborough, University of Toronto at Mississauga and the Institute for Aerospace Studies. Present operations do not include the collection of wastes generated at institutions outside the control of the University of Toronto Radiation Protection Authority (UTRPA). Radioactive waste are wastes that contain radioactive material as defined by Nuclear Safety and Control Act and is regulated by Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) in order to protect human health and the environment. The University mainly produces solid compacted radiation waste and scintillation vials from labs and research areas. This radioactive waste is collected in Radiation Waste Facilities running under the University’s Waste Nuclear Substances License provided by the CNSC.

CNSC License for Contractor's waste management system and disposal site.
Worker’s Compensation Board Certificate.
A minimum of $5,000,000 Commercial General Liability Insurance
Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance
Comprehensive General Liability Insurance
Environmental Impairment Liability Insurance

Duration of Agreement:
The term of the agreement is to be for a period of two (2) years, with an option in favour of the University to extend the agreement on the same terms and conditions for two (2) additional one-year terms.

At the end of the evaluation process, the University of Toronto may identify one or more suppliers with whom it wishes to enter into negotiations, by written notification.
