The University of Toronto Libraries is conducting an investigation to gain information from qualified firms about library services platforms and discovery systems that enable resource management and end-user discovery in a holistic and unified way. The University of Toronto Libraries seeks to increase its efficiency and collaborative capabilities, in an environment that is well suited for its current needs and able to adapt responsively to the changes anticipated for the next decade. Our objectives include cohesive and comprehensive management of electronic, print, and digital collections, support for collaborative workflows and efficient resource sharing, and interoperability with a variety of business and information systems.
This Request for Information (RFI) intends to elicit responses that describe the conceptual and organizational principles that underlie the design of any proposed library services platform, its ability to meet the functional requirements of the University of Toronto Libraries, and its technical characteristics and architecture.
In their response, Respondents are encouraged to explain their vision of next generation ILS systems and services and how their proposed solution achieves that vision.
Responses to this RFI, which will include pricing information for various solutions, will be used to refine specifications of critical and desirable features of a library services platform, and to identify potentially qualified systems. This RFI is non-binding, and designed to assist the University of Toronto Libraries in deciding how best to proceed.
