DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT
The University is conducting an RFP for Cryo-plunger for preparation of samples for cryo-EM
The Temerty Faculty of Medicine Microscopy Imaging Laboratory (MIL) of University of Toronto is requesting an instrument capable of automatically plunge freezing protein samples for single particle cryo-transmission electron microscopy and cryo-tomography. The system will prepare an ultrathin layer of protein sample spread onto an electron microscopy grid by automatic blotting, and fast plunging into liquid ethane. The MIL is a heavily used multidisciplinary imaging facility, therefore the new cryo-TEM instrument is expected to make the image acquisition phase of any research project more accessible for both the novice and experienced microscopist. In order to meet the demands of both experienced and new users, the proposed cryo-plunger should be able to enhance the capabilities of the MIL to produce the samples for high resolution data collection.
The procurement is anticipated to involve negotiation. An electronic auction is not anticipated.
