DESCRIPTION OF PROCUREMENT:
This Request for Proposal is an invitation to prospective Proponents to provide Professional Services (Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, or Other) to undertake the design, document and construction administration for the “Professional Engineering Services for Davis Building CABB RTU Replacement” project at University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) Campus. The William G. Davis Building (Davis Building) is one of the oldest buildings and the largest academic and science building on University of Toronto Mississauga Campus. Since the building was built in 1969, Davis Building is home to the scientific research, laboratories, lecture halls, Student Services, and academic administrative functions. Davis building comprises of A, BC, D, J, K, and L Blocks. In 2002, the D Block Center for Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology (CABB) extension was built to house additional laboratory spaces for the expansive requirement for scientific research and student teaching spaces. The scope and mandate of this project is to replace and modernize the Roof Top Unit (RTU) serving solely the D Block CABB extension. The CABB was built with an HVAC system independent of the main Davis Building. Ventilation will need to be maintained during the RTU replacement as the spaces are occupied. This replacement will include all of the associated components (pumps, fans, motors, heating coil, cooling coils, building automation system, electrical systems etc.) on the roof and the mechanical room. The objective is to improve the overall energy efficiency of ventilation and thermal comfort level of the occupied spaces and integrate the control of the system with the Base Building Automation System (BAS) that is used for the rest of the Davis Building. Due to the nature of scope, afterhours work, noisy work, service interruptions (air, heating, cooling and electrical) are expected and shall be documented and planned.
