The University of Waterloo Aquatic Animal Facility, located in the Biology 1 (Building #7) is a fresh water animal research facility. Renovated areas will include up to 449.53 m2 (4840 sq.ft) in the existing animal laboratories. Scope of work includes re-locating marine/aquatic animal tanks and associated pumps, piping and equipment, re-sloping existing floors to improve drainage, upgrades to electrical systems including emergency power (roof top generator), and installation of water treatment equipment. Project completion anticpated by December 1, 2019 to meet Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) inspection milestone.
General Contractors are invited to bid provided they demonstrate that they are currently on a Vendor of Record list for any Post-secondary Education Institution or Publicly Funded School Board for projects over $2.5M in construction value (excl HST). Scope of work includes renovations within an occupied building with Type III Asbestos Abatement requiring detailed phasing and hoarding plans to be prepared by the Contractor. General contractors to provide a completed CCDC 11 –2016 form listing a minimum of three projects with similar complexity and scope. Bidders shall provide a WSIB CAD 7 certificate indicating injury statistics for the last 5 years. References and Health and Safety Program details will be requested from the shortlisted bidders.
