P76PH21039 - P76PH21039 - SUPPLY OF HYBRID ELECTRIC BUSES

This Negotiable Request for Proposals (the “RFP”) is an invitation by the Toronto Transit Commission (“TTC”) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for the Supply of Hybrid Electric Buses, as described in the RFP Deliverables.

TTC has a fleet of approximately 2000 buses which are required to provide reliable transportation to the public in around the City of Toronto.  The current TTC bus life expectancy is between 12 to 15 years.  As such, TTC has a bus procurement program which is designed to:
•   Replace buses that have reached their retirement age;
•   Meet the fleet plan requirements;
•   Ensure vehicle availability and reliability;
•   Meet new legislative requirements for emissions; and
•   Stay current with bus technology advancements and ensure a level of fleet modernization.

In July 2017, the City of Toronto adopted the TransformTO greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target to reduce 80% of emissions by 2050.  At the November 2017 and June 2018 meetings of the TTC Board, 2nd generation hybrid buses and electric buses were the best candidate for the TTC’s State of Good Repair bus replacement program.  As part of this program, all future procurements will be hybrid electric buses and zero emission buses.
