Heavy Civil & Electrical Work Contractor Airfield Restoration Program 2020

The GTAA wishes to engage the services of a fully qualified and suitably experienced contractor with experience in either heavy civil construction [preferably with a minimum of ten (10) years of specialist experience with airport/airside paving work] and/or airfield electrical work (for more details on evaluation and continuing performance qualification requirements for this Contract refer to Schedule ‘A’ – ‘Evaluation Criteria’. The Contractor shall act as the paving and airfield electrical contractor for airfield pavement restoration work for a period of one year.
Work airside generally includes asphalt and concrete paving (installation and removal), concrete slab repairs, saw cutting and sealing of cracks in asphalt, saw cutting and sealing joints in concrete, asphalt and concrete repairs/patching, milling and grinding, airfield grading, storm sewer and catch basin repairs/adjustments, line painting, topsoiling, seeding/sodding, removal and reinstallation of existing inset lights and edge lights, repair of existing inset cans, installation of new inset cans in concrete or asphalt, installation of new conduits and cables, removal and reinstallation of guidance signs, installation of electrical hand holes, airfield lighting cables and transformers.
**GTAA NOTICE**
As a part of ensuring that contractors perform their work in accordance with GTAA safety requirements, applicable legislation, and good industry practices, contractors are required to meet the GTAA established levels of safety competence and compliance by successfully completing the Application for Safety Pre-Qualification.
For expediency, it is recommended that bidders make their Safety Pre-Qualification submissions prior to their Proposal Submission.

The GTAA will require all Contractors to be Certificate of Recognition (COR) certified or can demonstrate active pursuit of certification by providing a “Letter of Status” from IHSA, as an alternative to full certification in the interim.
By achieving COR, the contractor demonstrates their health and safety management system has been developed, implemented, and evaluated on an annual basis through comprehensive internal and external audits and checks.
