202409-11 - Ontario Intensive Treatment Pathway - Clinical Population Report

Purpose and Proposed Scope of Work

• The Lead Agency Consortium for Child and Youth Mental Health for Ontario is seeking the expertise of a researcher / consulting team to develop a report that compiles and analyzes the current international research related to comparative outcomes for children and youth receiving mental health treatment in out of home settings:

• by clinical profile
• by demographic profile including relevant segmentations such as age, determinants/social determinants of health, etc.
• by co-occurring complexities, e.g., ASD, FASD, addictions, by family status.

• The report will support decision-makers in determining the clinical populations that require and are likely to benefit from the most intensive and specialized community-based live-in treatment available recognizing the full range of complexities for children and youth and their families.
• The report will inform the design and implementation of the new provincial system of intensive live-in treatment programs and related supports for these children and youth.
• The report will inform the common clinical and program models and standards for the new system.
• The respondent team will have considerable clinical and systems knowledge of intensive treatment for children and youth and demonstrated relevant research capacity.

• Compilation of relevant international research, including all meta-analysis and systematic reviews, and an annotated bibliography, list of all references and access to the identified articles for review.
• A report detailing and describing the most prevalent clinical profiles of Canadian children, youth and young adults with significantly impairing mental illness and consideration of co-occurring complexities and key considerations when identifying populations to be served by the new provincial system.
• A report of available Ontario CYMH data, in its broadest interpretation (e.g., not limited to core service providers), documenting clinical profiles of children and youth in out of home treatment in the last two years.
• Drawing on available research, a comparative analysis of mental health and behavioural outcomes for prevalent child and youth clinical profiles following mental health out of home treatment, including providing some analysis of the features of the settings that facilitated those outcomes.
