The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) seeks to create a Community Heritage Register as an official list of historic places which have been identified as having cultural significance including natural, Indigenous and historic places with heritage values.
The successful consultant will aid RDCK staff in drafting a Community Heritage Register (CHR) for rural Electoral Areas A, C, D, E, I, J, K, G and H. The project will include historical research and engagement with diverse perspectives to determine community heritage values, a list of places that embody those values, and site selection criteria. Sites determined for initial inclusion to the CHR will have Statements of Significance drafted, and the CHR will be completed for feedback and approvals. To ensure the ongoing success of the created CHR, the project will also include implementation and communication tools.
Proposals will be accepted until 2:00 pm, August 30, 2019.
