202768 - AC3 Optimus IABP Systems and Tester kit for Royal Columbian Hospital

Intra- Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) is a mechanical device that increases myocardial oxygen perfusion and indirectly increase Cardiac output through afterload reduction. RCH is the only hospital in FHA to perform Open Heart Surgery and this equipment is a must to support these cases. The current IABPs at RCH have reached end of life, are failing and the site has an urgent need to replace them to maintain patient care.  A standardized platform and clinical practice allow the program to streamline proprietary consumables on the shelf and most importantly maintain patient safety. 

Thus, to ensure compatibility with existing goods, or to maintain specialized goods that must be maintained by the manufacturer of those goods or its representative, a direct award to Teleflex for the replacement of end of life failing equipment is appropriate.

Vendors who wish to challenge this decision should submit a detailed written objection for the attention of Arman Rusheeq Uddin, Buyer – Cardiac care by email before 2:00pm Pacific Time, 12th August, 2024. PHSA will review any and all issues received by this date and provide due consideration to each objection.
