Complete an investigation and options analysis to rehabilitate the Sawmill at Kings Landing. If required, provide, design development tendering, construction, and post construction services.
The project is broken down into six (6) phases. The approach is intended to ensure that prudent investigation and analysis are completed to inform design development and eventual construction on the Sawmill. The outcome of the design and construction must be the animation of the moving components of the Sawmill to support heritage presentation, a key component of the options analysis is to determine the considerations if the animation involves cutting wood. It is anticipated that at a minimum,
the project requires a qualified Heritage Architect, Structural Conservation Engineer, and Mechanical Engineer.
Kings Landing Corporation plans to negotiate a contract with a proponent for the performance of services in phases 1-2, with the option to proceed with subsequent phases, based on mutual agreement with the recommended proponent. Kings Landing Corporation reserves the right to
issue more than one contract for these services.
During the investigation and recording phase, the proponent will perform a condition assessment that includes but is not limited to the flume, water wheel structure, millpond and supply water pumps, and interior sawmill components (internal 16 foot in diameter oak cog wheel with 140 wooden teeth, wooden trendle gear, pitman arm that connects to a crank and wooden saw sash, flywheel, log carriage, rocker, other gears, and so forth). The internal mechanical components and workings of the sawmill
are largely wood on wood making it special compared to other similar sawmills. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBPl1PcckGY).
