24TDRRSD897 - Ronald Lake Bison Population Monitoring Helicopter Support

As part of the monitoring program for the Ronald Lake wood bison herd, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas has deployed 30 remote game cameras in the herd’s range to assess herd composition. Cameras must be serviced annually to replace batteries and memory cards, and to ensure they are still deployed properly. Camera locations are remote and most readily accessed via helicopter. Alberta Environment and Protected Areas requires one aircraft to provide support to visit these sites and service currently deployed cameras. For the camera maintenance work, a single 4-person crew will be in the aircraft. A second component of this work is to conduct aerial surveys of the bison herd.
