TENDER CALL - Copp Brook Fish Passage Restoration - Debris Removal
Scope of Work
The scope of work will consist of tasks required to restore and enhance fish habitat in Copp Brook, as shown on the attached drawings. Tasks will generally include the following:
- Cutting alders and smaller trees by hand, flush to the ground, to gain access to the site;
- Construction of a "working pad" area with existing on-site materials to allow the excavator to reach down and remove debris from the stream bed. This pad shall be as small as possible while ensuring that safe equipment operation is possible;
- Installation of environmental protection measures:
o For frozen/snow covered ground, install straw bale structures for environmental protection.
o For unfrozen ground, install sediment control fence.
- Removal of approximately 75 cubic metres of old concrete debris from Copp Brook;
- Disposal of concrete debris. Debris must be brought to the construction and demolition area of the Eco360 facility, during weekdays. There is no cost for disposal at the site (except for the cost of trucking);
- Select pieces of concrete are to be left on site, at the end of the access road, and placed as a barrier once the work has been completed to ensure no vehicle can enter the area;
- Reshaping and restoration of the embankment with hay mulch;
- Restoration of the modified "working pad" and access area with hay mulch after completion of the work.
Access to the site for a site visit will be possible at any time prior to awarding the work. There will be no formal pre-tender site meeting at the project site.
Please note that the itemized bid provided to the Owner, for the above noted scope of work, shall include all work incidental to the supply & installation of the services listed herein including all related warranties, supervision, permitting, equipment, materials, removal and disposal, installation, clean-up, mark-up or profit and all work incidental thereto, all as detailed herein and as laid out by the Engineer. Protection of all existing features will be considered incidental to the work.
Should existing features become damaged by the Contractor during the execution of the work the Contractor shall acceptably repair or replace at no cost to the Owner.
Payment will be by unit pricing as per CCDC 4 (Unit Price Contact) as attached in the appendix. The lump sum items and allowances will form the basis for payment of the contract price.
The Contractor shall start the work within one (1) week of notification by the Engineer to proceed. It is expected that the construction would start the week of February 19th, 2024. The complete scope of work shall be completed no later than March 8th, 2024. Final schedule subject to change based on regulatory approvals. Stockpiling materials on site will be permitted in select areas to avoid delays.
