204093 - 2024-12 RFP Kitimat - Kitimaat Tsunami Study

The District of Kitimat (the “District”) is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced consultants to conduct a Kitimat-Kitamaat Tsunami Model and Risk Assessment Project. The District, in partnership with Haisla Nation, has received a $300,000 grant from the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) for Category 1 Foundational Activities related to risk mapping, assessments, and planning, which forms the budget for this assignment. The study aims to develop a comprehensive tsunami inundation model and risk assessment for both communities and other significant coastal areas within the study boundaries. By modeling, mapping, and drawing upon community knowledge and Indigenous Knowledge, this project will provide the District of Kitimat and Haisla Nation a better understanding of their shared regional and local tsunami hazard and risk.
