182549 - Water/Wastewater Operator Contractor Services

Through this Request for Proposal, the City of Prince Rupert is seeking Proposals from qualified operating companies (“ Supplier”) interested in providing a full-time Operations Manager under a Contractor Services Agreement for the operation, maintenance, and management services of the City’s Water Supply, Treatment, and Distribution System and Wastewater Collection System (collectively, the “ System”). The City intends to enter into a Contracting Services Agreement for 1 year, subject to Proposal evaluation and Budget approval.

Traits Required for Operations Manager
In their role as the City’s contracted Operations Manager, the Supplier’s employee will be in a visible position and will have considerable contact with the public, must always be demonstrating sound judgment and a high degree of tactfulness and diplomacy in dealing with customer complaints and difficult situations.  This individual will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the City of Prince Rupert’s Sewer and Wastewater systems by managing technically trained staff and City assets.  This role requires an individual who is an excellent communicator with a demonstrated track record of leading people and projects related to municipal infrastructure construction, operation, and maintenance.

In addition, the Operations Manager needs to keep up-to-date on safe work practices and legislation and monitor, correct, and implement techniques on the job site to promote safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
