Invest in Canada was created to promote, facilitate and accelerate foreign direct investment (FDI)
to Canada. The organization works with investment attraction partners in Canada and abroad to
ensure global companies get coordinated support for their investment or expansion project.
Invest in Canada aims to increase awareness of Canada’s investment value proposition and
innovation capabilities across key sectors and position Canada as a premier investment
destination among the international business community, particularly in target markets.
Domestically, Invest in Canada aims to demonstrate the positive benefits of FDI for Canadians
and Canadian businesses.
In order to achieve its mandate, Invest in Canada must understand the dialogue, issues and
perceptions of FDI among both international investors and various stakeholders in Canada. It also
aims to celebrate global investment “wins” across the country, be they driven by Invest in Canada,
its partners or unassisted.
Key sectors include advanced manufacturing, agri-food, clean technology, digital technology,
health sciences/biotech, clean resources as well as digital entertainment and media.
Target markets include the United States, European Union, Japan, South Korea, United Arab
Emirates, India, Singapore and China.
