Background
Oxfam Canada is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to interested firms to submit proposal to provide investment management services. Oxfam Canada is a registered charitable organization located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada whose vision is a just and sustainable world and whose mission is to fight inequality and patriarchy to end poverty and injustice. Our values are equality, empowerment, solidarity, inclusiveness, accountability and courage. Oxfam Canada seeks to achieve its mission by ensuring that women and their organizations have more power to claim and defend their rights. We are rights-based, guided by feminist principles, driven by diversity and grounded in intersectionality. We acknowledge and seek to expand people’s agency over their lives and the decisions that impact them, collaborating across boundaries to build a just and sustainable world. We take responsibility for our action and inaction and hold ourselves accountable to the people we work with and for. We speak truth to power and act with conviction on the justice of our causes. Oxfam Canada works on six strategic priorities: ending gender-based violence, building gender-just economies, securing sexual and reproductive health and rights, promoting women’s transformative leadership, and putting women at the center of humanitarian action. Oxfam Canada contributes to change on three fronts: we provide life-saving humanitarian aid during emergencies; support long-term development projects in partnership with communities; and advocate and campaign to change the laws and practices that keep people trapped in poverty and perpetuate inequality. Working on these three fronts in tandem is what makes Oxfam unique. Our systemic approach yields powerful and lasting results. Oxfam Canada is incorporated, without share capital, under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act. Oxfam Canada, as a registered charity, is exempt from income taxes under paragraph 149 (1)(f) of the Income Tax Act (Canada).
The Oxfam Canada Board of Directors has a direct oversight role regarding all decisions that impact Oxfam Canada’s investment portfolio. The Board has delegated supervisor responsibility for the management of Oxfam Canada’s investment portfolio to the Finance and Audit Committee.
