Background
The Forming and Impact Mechanics Group, and the Impact Mechanics and Material Characterization (IMMC) Group are part of the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department of the University of Waterloo. The Groups’ research activities encompass structural crash worthiness, impact and injury biomechanics, high-strain-rate material behavior, sheet forming for auto weight reduction, and joint characterization. The groups’ facilities include several split-Hopkinson pressure bars, high rate hydraulic testing machine, and a large-scale crash sled facility, amongst other key infrastructure.
The groups require a state-of-the-art video/audio system in a conference room, called the Visualization Chamber, to facilitate effective communication and presentation of information during meetings, visits from sponsors, etc. The system should include 3 major components:
1. Display Capabilities a. Panoramic Video-wall system
b. Large format displays
2. Audio Capabilities
3. Control System a. Integration of audio and video components with easy-to-use control system
b. Heat control system to prevent overheating of the Visualization Chamber when all systems are in use
Specific requirements of the system are outlined in Section 6.0 of the RFP. There is a scheduled site visit being held on campus on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 10.30 am local time; bidders should assemble in the lobby of East Campus 4 (‘EC4’, off Phillip Street, near Columbia) prior to this time for escort to the area. The total budget for this system is capped at $240,000 CAD, not including HST.
This Request for Proposal is issued in concert with funding in part from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI), and should follow all CFI Guidelines and Policies – please refer to Section 8 of the RFP document.
