RFP BACKGROUND
The University of Waterloo is soliciting proposals from qualified and experienced writers to provide services to support our projects. The University will develop a roster of pre-qualified writers who can provide categorized professional and creative writing services that comply with our brand guidelines at competitive prices.
Brief Summary of Department
To continue to attract the best and brightest undergraduate students nationally and internationally, it is critical that Marketing and Undergraduate Recruitment (MUR) continues to develop engaging, compelling content that reflects the university’s brand. MUR’s primary audiences are teens (aged 16 – 21), and their influencers (e.g. parents, teachers, guidance counsellors, educational consultants, agents).
Although MUR staff will be the primary users of the roster, other University departments may also utilize the roster from time to time. This roster will be non-exclusive, and the University may, from time to time and in its own discretion, purchase services from writers who are not on the roster. Refer to Section 6.0 – Requirements, for details.
Some of the services that we require for our projects include:
- Storytelling – short- and long-form stories 500 to +1200 words (e.g., alumni/student profiles), for multiple channels (e.g., print, web, social media, email), different audiences (e.g., alumni/donors, government officials, employers, teens, etc.)
- Corporate communications
- Proofreading – Canadian Press style, grammar, style, tone, consistency, etc.
Due to the anticipation of a large volume of proposals, the University is restricting the number of short-listed writers for Stage 2 evaluations (sample work and references), and, the total number of writers for the roster in accordance with the methodology explained in this RFP document.
Questions regarding this Request for Proposal may be submitted in writing (via email) up to the Deadline for Questions with Guaranteed Response as per Section 5.0, and must be directed to the RFP Contact Person as follows:
