Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing (MSAM) Lab of the University of Waterloo is the largest academic additive manufacturing lab in Canada, hosting sophisticated metal and plastic 3D printers as well as characterization devices to holistically adopt and qualify additive manufacturing processes to industrial applications. Working with more than 20 large, medium and small companies, MSAM has created a unique platform for Canadian and International companies to closely work and benefit form suite of equipment as well as know-hows and background IP. MSAM has been globally pinpointed as one of the major additive manufacturing players in the UK Strategic Planning Report for 2018-2025. More info about the lab can be found in the following website:

MSAM explores novel techniques to develop advanced materials, innovative products, modeling and simulation tools, monitoring devices, closed-loop control systems, quality assurance algorithms and holistic in-situ and ex-situ characterization techniques.
To complete the suite of characterization devices, MSAM is looking for a high quality SEM, EBSD an EDS. The integrated equipment must be new; however, MSAM will provide an opportunity to the vendor to use the installed machine for the marketing purpose and deploy it for demonstration two days per months. To enable this opportunity, extraordinary discount is required. The equipment will be hosted in the newly constructed $100M building (Engineering 7). This building is one of the high tech engineering buildings in North America. The equipment will be placed in one of the MSAM rooms that is environmentally controlled. Within this room, MSAM hosts several high tech characterization devises such as a Nano-CT, DSC-TGA, Optical dilatometer, mechanical testers and a few more.
Given the reputation of MSAM, the integrated system must be at high quality to ensure that the group can provide industry with first class services. Extended warranties and reputation of the selected vender for rapid maintenance/repair services are extremely important to MSAM.
