37049-7A-RFP - NEXT GENERATION SEQUENCING (NGS) BENCHTOP SEQUENCER

The proposed instrument is a Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Benchtop Sequencer. The requested NGS Desktop Sequencer will be used for whole genome sequencing of yeast, to identify mutations induced by carcinogen exposure. The requested NGS Desktop Sequencer system must be suitable for sequencing 12 megabase yeast genome.

General Description:
The Principal Investogator (PI) research group uses budding yeast to study DNA damaging agents, including known or suspected human carcinogens. The research group then identify the mutations which are induced by whole genome sequencing.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Benchtop Sequencer
1.1 Must be able to sequence at least 8 yeast genomes per sequencing run.
1.2 Minimum output from 24-hour run must exceed 4 gigabases.
1.3 Maximum output per run must exceed 10 gigabases.
1.4 Must fit within 90 cm (width) by 75 cm (depth) space on benchtop.
1.5 Maximum output sequencing runs must complete within 3 days.
1.6 At least 70% of bases from sequencing output must have quality scores of 30 or higher.
1.7 Must have error rate < 1%.
1.8 Must be able to generate single-end and paired-end reads.
1.9 Must be capable of read lengths ≥ 250 bases.
1.10 Must be able to offer a minimum of three (3) years of optional extended warranty for a total of four  (4) years including the standard warrant
