Notice is hereby given by the University of Ottawa of the intent to enter into a contract with MTS System Corporation to procure an MTS Static Hybrid Testing System, consisting of a MTS Controller, an MTS High-Force Servohydraulic Load Frame with 2500 kN (500 kip) load capacity, and an MTS Data Acquisition System. The system will be connected to an existing MTS servo-control loading system located in the Structures Laboratory of the University of Ottawa to drive the new and existing actuators simultaneously while recording the data gathered by the MTS sensors of the new and existing actuators and other instrumentations. Therefore, it must be a complete integrated system that has full compatibility with the existing hardware and software in the Structures Laboratory. The system will be fully integrated with its counterpart at Carleton University to conduct geographically distributed static hybrid testing. This system will support the research conducted by the Structures Group in the Department of Civil Engineering to test large and full scale structural and non-structural elements under static and simulated seismic loading. The data gathered and the research conducted will permit the development of resilient and sustainable civil engineering infrastructures, while the outcome providing input into codes and standards, as well as the practicing structural engineering community in Canada and elsewhere in the world for use in practice.
