Background and Purpose

The Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University invites qualified bidders to submit responses for the supply of web design and development services in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposals. The Faculty’s current website (all eng.mcmaster.ca and youthprograms.eng.mcmaster.ca URLS) is a critically important marketing tool. It is the main gateway to recruit top students and faculty; to connect the Fireball Family community of students, staff, faculty, alumni and donors through engaging news and events; and to inform stakeholders of new and innovative research, programs, resources and services.

Our current website lacks coherent content navigation, is slow to load, and is at times too restrictive due to the use of templates. An opportunity exists to re-engineer the website to align with the mission of the Faculty, and incorporate web technologies that are innovative, built to grow and evolve.

This will be a concept-to-completion project consisting of three phases: Phase 1 includes the migration of content to a WordPress platform over 10 months, completed by an in-house developer. Phase 2, which will be done in tandem with Phase 1, will be led by the successful proponent and must also by completed by November 2022; this phase includes the discovery process, content strategy for the entire website, and development of a website redesign of high priority, including external-facing pages (e.g. Homepage, Future Students, Co-op and Career Services, Giving, Alumni Relations and Research). The third phase includes the website redesign of remaining pages that include Departments/Programs, Research Centres & Institutes, About, News & Events, and Resources as well as the Venture Academy website, which will occur over eight months following the November 2022 deadline. Following the completion of Phase 3, web admin and content support will be required from the successful proponent, for four months following the completion of Phase 3.

The new website must adhere to McMaster's brand guidelines, have a seamless navigation for its users, and optimize the user experience on both desktop and mobile devices to reflect the Faculty’s reputation as one of the top engineering schools in the world.

Term

The term of this agreement is for an initial term of two (2) years with an option to renew for an additional one (1) year as required, at McMaster’s sole discretion.
