The McMaster customer owned substation was originally constructed in 1970. Incoming power is provided by two Hydro One incoming service lines at 115,000V. The McMaster substation delivers 13.8 kV electricity from dual power transformers to the main electrical switchgear in the ET Clarke building for distribution to the 50+ buildings on campus including McMaster University Medical Centre hospital.
The existing building housing the protection and control equipment is targeted for replacement associated with the substation upgrades. McMaster University requires a successful proponent to manufacture a transportable, rain tight, weatherproof steel structure building with the approximate dimensions of 13200 mm by 4900mm by 3658 mm high. This building is designed to house a power switchgear and associated protection, control, and teleprotection/telecom equipment. The building will accommodate AIS metalclad & DC batteries supply with chargers. The E-house shall be pre-fabricated, pre-assembled, and pre-tested at the proponent’s site before shipment.
