Description

McMaster University is seeking to retain the services of a Mechanical Engineer (Consultant) for the supply of professional design and contract administration services for the E T Clarke Building New Chiller project and invites qualified bidders to submit responses in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposal (hereafter referred to as RFP).
The basic form of contract will be the CCDC 31 2020 Service Contract Between Owner and Consultant as modified by McMaster University. Refer to Appendix B for the Proponent’s Scope of Professional Services. Refer to Appendix C for the Supplementary Conditions.
The proposed project scope includes the selection and installation of two (2) new smaller vapor compression chillers with a combined capacity of 5000T to replace chiller#6 including all the associated mechanical, electrical, controls and the tie-ins to the existing services/ utilities at ET Clarke building. The scope includes new and/or upgrading the existing concrete pads for the new chillers and the associated components.

The existing 5000T vapor compression chiller#6 at ET Clarke is at the end of its lifecycle and is currently being demolished by a general contractor and will be completely off site by the end of January 2022. All the associated services and utilities will be capped and locked-out. This includes mechanical, electrical controls and the related hazardous material abatement.

The estimated date for completion of this project is end of October 2022.
