Background and Purpose

McMaster University invites qualified suppliers to submit responses for the provision of one (1) Large Envelope X-Ray Computed Tomography System (XCT) in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposal.
Bidders must quote the entire bid. Partial bids will not be accepted.

Scope/Objective

The Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy (CCEM) is Canada’s national facility for electron microscopy, and a leader in materials analysis and characterization. CCEM’s mission is to provide world-leading instrumentation to its customer base, and to serve as a resource of knowledge, expertise, and infrastructure for materials analysis. XCT is an analysis method which provides non-destructive 3D imaging of materials and specimens, and offers invaluable scientific insight into microstructure and micro-scale phenomena. Equipped with a high energy x-ray source, relatively large volumes of material (or materials less x-ray transparent) can be analyzed. Having the XCT system operating within a large scale enclosure also enables a variety of thermal-mechanical testing equipment to operate on the specimens while imaging, allowing for in situ materials analysis. In addition to standalone XCT imaging, a large envelope XCT system at CCEM serves to complement the existing research infrastructure through correlative material analysis. This opens numerous opportunities for multi-length scale correlative characterization at CCEM. Therefore, a suitable high energy XCT system operating in a large-scale enclosure is required.

Term

The term of this agreement is the time required to fulfill the deliverables of this RFP. The warranty and service term is for a period of five (5) years or sixty (60) months, ideally including all components, on-site service, and all parts and labour.
