Background and Purpose
McMaster University has a requirement for an upgrade to their local
electrode atom probe (LEAP) 4000X HR system to a LEAP 5000XS
platform.
The LEAP system enables atom-by-atom analysis of materials with both
spatial and elemental information on the atoms provided. Upgrading the
existing LEAP 4000X HR to a LEAP 5000 platform comes with many
advantages, chiefly an increase in detector efficiency, and compatibility with
additional components such as for cryo vacuum transfer or automation.
Reconfiguration of the flight path will simplify data reconstruction, enhance
the field of view, and provide an additional increase in detection efficiency.
This enables expanded analysis of trace elements/dopants, and better
sensitivity to fine segregation features in materials.
The purpose of this Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN) is to signal
McMaster University’s intention to award a contract for the above-noted
goods and/or services to the following pre-selected supplier:
Cameca Instruments Inc.

of Capabilities Form during the posting period.
If other potential suppliers submit a Statement of Capabilities Form that meet
McMaster University’s requirements as set out in the ACAN, McMaster
University may proceed to a competitive procurement process.
If no other supplier submits a Statement of Capabilities Form on or before
the closing date/time, a contract may be awarded to the above-noted preselected
supplier.
