McMaster University and the Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy (CCEM), has a requirement for ongoing service and support for its electron microscopes: including various scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and focused ion beam SEM (FIB-SEM) units. As these are highly complex pieces of scientific equipment expected to operate reliably and optimally, the need for service, upkeep, repair, and maintenance is frequent. Furthermore, the level of service provided must come from highly trained individuals and include factory support for technical assistance and parts supply. Without service agreements in place, CCEM and McMaster University risk not being able to achieve the scientific and research objectives for which the equipment was acquired.
The instruments currently housed at CCEM for which a service agreement is required are:
- Thermo Fisher Scientific Spectra Ultra (TEM)
- Thermo Fisher Scientific Talos F200X (TEM)
- Thermo Fisher Scientific Talos L120C (TEM)
- Thermo Fisher Scientific Helios 5 UC (FIB)
- Thermo Fisher Scientific Helios G4 UXe (FIB)
- Thermo Fisher Scientific Quattro S (SEM)
CCEM is seeking a multi-year, multi-instrument agreement to cover service requirements on the instruments listed above for the course of its next budget cycle.
Systems for Research Corp. (SFR), as the sole Canadian distributor and service provider for electron and ion microscopes by Thermo Fisher Scientific, is the only company able to provide service and support for the instrumentation listed above at the level required by CCEM to meet the needs of its researchers and users.
