Ornge is a family of companies, some incorporated federally and others in the Province of Ontario. Ornge provides air and land ambulance services under an agreement with the Ministry of Health. Included in the functions of Ornge are the roles inherent in the procurement, maintenance, dispatch, staffing and operation of a fleet of fixed wing and rotor wing aircraft. The medical teams provide services aboard aircraft and vehicles staffed with highly trained paramedics and pilots. Further, Ornge has a small fleet of critical care land ambulances, offering services at specific locations around the province. Ornge has more than 650 employees, including paramedics, paediatric transport paramedics, pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, transport medicine physicians, corporate support staff and a team of educators and researchers.

The intent to partner with the Institute for Behavior Research for the procurement of the SAFTE-FAST console, which provides science based bio-mathematical fatigue modeling for frontline employee shift schedules. The SAFTE-FAST console is an industry recognized tool, in use by over 50 aviation organizations and military agencies around the world.
The mandatory requirements for this agreement include the following:
- A dedicated desktop software solution;
- Fully customization solution, suited for fatigue analysis of varied schedules, employee groups and bases of operation;
- The ability to import shifts schedules, including actual time worked from company scheduling software;
- The ability to build, analysis, and save customized shift patterns for continued use;
- Built-in reporting structure with a customizable reporting dashboard;
- Hands-on training with subject matter experts;
- Access to online learning management system to facilitate additional training and increase system knowledge; and
- Access to fatigue management expertise.
To the best of our knowledge, the Institute for Behavior Research is the single source provider of the SAFTE-FAST console and it is therefore our intention to enter into contract discussions with the Institute for Behavior Research. The intention is to enter into an Agreement for a term of three years (the “Term”) upon commencement of the contract with the option for two extension options of one year each.
