Ontario Brain Institute (OBI) is a provincially funded not-for-profit organization maximizing the impact of neuroscience and establishing Ontario as a world leader in brain research, commercialization and care. OBI is dedicated to improving brain health by supporting collaborative research, commercialization of neurotechnologies and strengthening key partnerships and programs.
As part of the revenue diversifying plan, OBI has decided to initiate fundraising efforts. The goal is to raise $10M over 2.5 years. OBI does not have an existing fundraising or advancement team. As a result, OBI is seeking proposals from qualified, experienced firms or individuals to develop and implement a comprehensive multi-year fundraising strategy to solicit funds on our behalf through philanthropy, corporations, foundations, and other qualified donors to support our existing programs which include research, informatics, outreach, and commercialization initiatives.
OBI works using a model of collaboration across different sectors (academia, hospitals, companies, and not-for-profits). Therefore, a service provider needs to embrace this approach and should be able to bring together diverse perspectives and stakeholder groups to develop and implement appropriate fundraising strategies. Additionally, the fundraising strategy should be reflective of and in alignment with OBI’s mission/vision/values and execution capacity (https://braininstitute.ca/about-obi/our-work).
OBI also has a foundation, the Ontario Brain Institute Foundation (OBIF), which is a public foundation set up with the purpose of funding qualified donees (i.e. academic and treatment centres) in Canada and a mandate to further brain and neuroscience research and the education and training of brain and neuroscience researchers. As a registered charity, OBIF can issue donation receipts for the gifts. Funds raised as part of the Fundraising Service will go to OBIF and donation receipts will be issued through OBIF.
OBI is seeking a professional certified fundraising consultant with a proven track record for excellence in fundraising to provide a specific, tailored fundraising strategy, implementation plan and to solicit donations on our behalf through a philanthropic approach that engages individuals, corporations, foundations and other qualified donors.
