Located some 200 kms north of Labrador’s most northerly community (Nain), the Torngat Mountains Base Camp and Research Station (TMBCRS) is alive with activity during the summer months. The lands and facilities at TMBCRS are located just outside of the National Park boundary. TMBCRS provides a “home base” for Inuit elders and youth, visitors, researchers, and staff working in the National Park, while also providing tourism experiences for visitors from all over the world. The TMBCRS includes a range of assets such as buildigns and equipment, all of which are owned by the NG. However, the seasonal day-to-day operations of the TMBCRS are operated by a contracted third party, allowing the NG to retain ownership of the site while also ensuring it is operated efficiently and effectively. The site and infrastructure need lifecycle renewal, maintenance, and upgrades.
