This RFP is an invitation by Mitacs to prospective bidders to submit proposals for the provision of services that will help Mitacs create safe and inclusive learning spaces for our interns and fellows as well as other external training participants, as further described by the project scope and criteria.
Goals of the project
• To enable Mitacs with best practices, tools, and processes that will help create safe and inclusive learning spaces for our interns, fellows, and training participants.
Project scope and criteria General breakdown
• In consultation with Mitacs and Mitacs’s external stakeholders, set standards for inclusive learning spaces and inclusive interactions.
• Develop clear escalation, incident response, and issue resolution procedures that help Mitacs mitigate against, investigate, and appropriately respond to claims of unprofessional behaviour, harassment, bullying, bias, and discrimination in our training activities in a confidential manner.
• Develop standards for safe and inclusive learning spaces. This could include but be not limited to standards pertaining to incidents of unprofessional behaviour, harassment, bullying, bias, and discrimination involving course participants, including but not limited to our interns and fellows.
• Train course facilitators to effectively reinforce safe and inclusive spaces, including responding effectively to incidents.
• Review existing policies, procedures, and processes for creating an inclusive learning environment, recommend improvements in alignment with best practices, and revise accordingly.
• Develop policies, code of conduct, and communication protocols that communicate Mitacs’s rules with respect to inclusive and safe learning spaces.
• Review Mitacs’s asynchronous and synchronous courses to recommend how to further enhance inclusiveness, diversity, and accessibility of training offerings to interns and fellows.
