Description

The scope of work for this RFQ is for Structural Engineering Services for the Temporary Structural Steel Shoring / Reshoring of the historic Centre Block building during the excavation of three levels of sub-basement under the existing Centre Block structure including, but not limited to the following:

Design and Specification of complex structural steel shoring, complete with complex load and deflection-controlled jacking and monitoring systems, under the existing Centre Block building. The design must ensure the building/structure vertical and lateral movements are maintained within specified tolerances (3mm differential displacement).
Review of shop, fabrication and erection drawings from the steel fabricator and erector.
Review of submittals for an engineered jacking system, jacking plan and monitoring plan from the structural steel erector.
Along with the pile designer / subcontractor, design of structural steel shoring between the new piles.
Field Observations.
Note that the shoring / reshoring work described above will be subject to peer review by a third party.
