The scope of the Centre Block (CB) Rehabilitation Project includes a comprehensive rehabilitation of CB and its integrated Peace Tower, along with the completion of the Parliament Welcome Centre (PWC), which began in 2019.
The 1920 Centre Block building is six storeys above grade with mezzanines on the 3rd and 4th floors and a basement. The building measures approximately 144 metres by 75 metres. The building is essentially rectangular with exterior elevations that reflect its symmetrical, bi-axial plan. The interior gross area of all floors, including the mezzanines and basement, is approximately 50,500 square metres. The Peace Tower has a gross floor area of approximately 1,200 square metres.
The Scope of Services of this prequalification package is for the detailing, supply and installation of the temporary structural steel shoring required during the excavation under the Centre Block Heritage Building.
- Provide detailed shop drawings
- Provide detailed fabrication drawings
- Provide an engineered jacking plan and monitoring plan
- Supply and install structural steel shoring complete with jacking under the Centre Block Building on micro piles supplied by others while ensuring the building stays within tolerance (level and lateral movements). Monitor the shoring for movement.
- The installation will be phased

The subcontractor must demonstrate as requested in 6.3.2 Major Projects and Ongoing Projects and 6.3.3 Comparable Projects the they are capable of completing the following:
- Detail, Supply and installation of temporary structural steel shoring under a significant heritage building and/or other significant structure.
- Demonstrate they have worked on projects with limited space and access for supplying materials and equipment. We anticipate the following parameters:
- Areas with less than 8’ft of head room.
- Areas where hoisting by crane is not accessible
- Provide examples of similar projects
- Previous work supporting major heritage structures will be scored higher.
- Previous jacking and monitoring program
- Explain which portions of the above work the subcontractor completes with their own forces and which portions are completed through Sub-subcontractors. (design / fabrication / erection…) Provide information on subcontractors if work is to be subcontracted.
Due to design and/or industry capacity limitations the design packages may be split into multiple smaller packages.
