A1.1 Purpose/Background
The University of Winnipeg is seeking to conduct an extensive analysis of space usage across its academic and administrative buildings. Recognizing inefficiencies and underutilization in current space allocations, the university aims to adopt a novel approach in its space management strategies. The core objectives of this study include enhancing space utilization in a manner that aligns with contemporary best practices. To achieve this, the University of Winnipeg plans to engage a third-party consultant to review and analyze their current space usage, benchmarking against similar institutions. This comprehensive study will serve as a roadmap for optimizing space distribution on campus, ultimately aiming to enhance the experience of staff, faculty, and students. The overarching goal is to devise a strategic plan for more effective space allocation, thereby improving overall campus functionality and experience.
This plan will assess indoor spaces within the University, executing a utilization analysis to gauge the campus's current capacity. We'll evaluate how effectively these spaces are used and put forward suggestions to enhance space distribution, usage, and planning. The goal is to optimize benefits for students and staff using existing facilities. Furthermore, this evaluation will guide future development by pinpointing areas of need, potential improvements, and spaces suitable for repurposing to ensure optimal service provision and resource utilization. This plan will inform the future campus master plan.
