As of September 1, 2018 the Province of Manitoba will no longer provide provincial health insurance coverage for International Students and their dependents.
Approximately 20 Colleges, Universities and School Districts, along with a limited number of Private K-12 Schools are participating in an insurance consortium (further described below) whose purposes is to ensure consistent and efficient delivery of health insurance for each of its Educational Institution’s International Students. This consortium will be referred to as the “MC&U” for this Request.
In accordance with MC&U objectives, it will be mandatory for all International Students, to be fully covered by a comprehensive health and accident insurance plan. Through this Request, MC&U is seeking information on comprehensive health and accident insurance coverage options from private insurance companies that are equivalent to the current provincial health coverage offered through Manitoba Health for eligible International students and which meet the requirements set out in this Request. The MC&U is looking to achieve volume related pricing for its members. International Students may also require family coverage at additional costs.
Each MC&U Educational Institution is seeking to secure a multi-year contract from an Offeror(s) that best meets its needs for its International Students. All Educational Institutions within the MC&U require the Basic Coverage and Services (as described below), while individual institutions may want to include Supplemental Coverage ,Psychiatric Care and Family Coverage (as described below) for their respective International Students.
